Curious to know what sort of ms ping is required to get the quickest API callback.

are you talking about lag?

I don't think you need super fast internet... its not consuming lots of data...

I use timesynctool.com just because I use also hassbot and it was recommended to me... but I was using poor wifi connection with no problems... Now running Ethernet 1 gigabit connection...
