Gun not pulling the trigger
« on: October 06, 2017, 09:55:11 AM »
I was running my first 2 pairs for at least 24 hours and 0 buys, one was BTC/NEO only changes i made were BB buy 15% and sell 20%, i changed the period to 30min candles (less buys but generally higher % runs) during the period the price went south of the lower band on the 30 min chart and still didnt buy, why??, any help much appreciated :)

Do NOT change the gunbot 3.3.2 candlestick period (leave it to 15).

Yes, the documentation is messy here  ;D
Fortunately, the software is better.

https://gunthy.org/index.php/topic,306.0.html

The 0.02 and 0.04 values are a reversed engineered formula to calculate EMA1 and EMA2 very similar to Poloniex periods of 2 and 4 hours with a candlesticks period of 15 minutes. This is the only setting that is backtested with good results: if you use a different period of hours or use a different candlesticks period, the bot will not behave as its creator coded it: it would become too rushy with candlesticks lower than 15 minutes and/or ema1/ema2 lower than 2/4 hours, or too dormant with candlesticks period and/or Ema period higher than what suggested...by the moment you purchased the bot, tho, that's your bot, it is not mine anymore, so you can play with those values but you have been warned... ;)

thanks again but after leaving the bot running again for at least half a day no entries and a 50% BB entry setting!.... this is interesting on my Ripple pair the last price is 0.00005349,  low BB 0.00005334 (thats about right but..)  and price to buy is 0.00005212647433333326   which is way south of the lower band... WTF?

BB 50 isn't a good setting.
Read first here:
https://gunthy.org/index.php/topic,306.0.html

Consider also the BUY_LEVEL parameter which is too high will prevent ANY trade or such.
Again, please read.

have you checked for any "dust" in your account? when I was still on series 3 with gunbot I stared at no buying for a couple of days, then realizing I had minuscule amounts of crypto in my account (called "dust"). once I cleared the dust manually the bot started buying. the dust was not visible in my exchange account, but gunbot saw it. the series 3 bot won't buy, if there is any small amount of crypto in your account. preferably it needs to start with all crypto empty and capital only in BTC or whatever base currency you are driving it.

No. It buys between ZERO up to LowBB + LowBB%
(% being calculated on the width of LowBB and HighBB)

It sells between HighBB-HighBB% up to infinite.

Another beginner here.
So (LowBB% + HighBB%) should be < 100% to not loose money.

Unfortunately there is no way not to "loose".
Even if you buy the lowest, the currency can go even lower, and then it'll be impossible to sell.
Or - as I do, and many others problably - call it "a bag" and wait until the currency goes up.
Then you don't loose anything - except time, maybe.
