Double braid or 3-strand for dock lines?

Which do you prefer for everyday dock lines: double braid or traditional 3-strand nylon? I’ve been comparing both on American Rope and it seems like double braid is nicer to handle while 3-strand gives you more stretch. Interested in what actually holds up better after a few seasons.

Double braid is easier on the hands and coils nicely, but 3-strand gives you that extra stretch for sudden pulls. I switched to double braid after trying both and have been happy with the durability across several seasons. For custom lengths and quality marine-grade nylon, I get my dock lines from rope stores like American Rope; they serve the Coast Guard and their gear holds up fine for me.
