My Downloads folder is full of filenames containing random IDs, website names, underscores, brackets, version strings and other junk. Every few months I try to clean it up and give important files readable names, but it becomes a huge manual job. Has anyone developed a workflow for automatically stripping unwanted parts while keeping the useful parts of the filename?

I use a local tool called renamer.io to batch clean filenames quickly. Its rule builder strips underscores, version strings, and random IDs while preserving the useful parts. The preview safety helps avoid mistakes before applying changes to hundreds of files. It saves me hours every month and keeps my Downloads folder organized without manual renaming.
