@Oktorok

I'm deficient in knowledge as well, but this is what sold me... https://gunthy.org/index.php?topic=255.0;topicseen.

I had no intentions of buying Gunbot, but Gunthar said this would help even with my manual trades. I was skeptical but I read it, then proceeded to look at hundreds of charts on Poloniex and realized there was indeed something to this. I saw these patterns play out hundreds of times. I then put it into practice manually and was amazed. But these "humps" play out over the course of several hours so watching them is exhausting. This led me to thinking, yes, a bot could do this same thing, and so now, here I am (and quite pleased so far with results).

Also, see "simplest explanation"... https://gunthy.org/index.php?topic=169.0 -and- https://gunthy.org/index.php?topic=255.0;topicseen

@holodigm

I've found this which now makes me more confused than ever...

Yeah you need to set ema1 and ema2 at 8 and 16 at poloniex graphic and you will see that price is right below ema

It only means you have to set ema to 8&16 on poloniex if you've set ema (within the bot) to 2&4- then you'll have a clue what GunBot sees....

@Swordfish85 - Interesting, thanks for tip! To be honest I haven't even bothered with watching EMA on chart, the BB is what I looked at through multiple charts to convince me this was a sold indicator when set correctly. I'm sure I should be watching the others as well and have much to learn.

Since the EMA's don't affect the visual BB on the chart and that is what I have been relying on, it is Gunthar's recommended SMA number that I would most like to know and haven't tracked down yet. I will update this post if I do.

Here is a TV chart Gunthar referenced and indicated that it "saw" what Gunbot sees, I believe the SMA in this chart is 20...

Note: I have edited an earlier post both for brevity and stupidity, hopefully both edits were successful : )

@holodigm

These generally match closely to the trade signals that gunbot works with when using EMA based trades.
Anyone who knows more please add :)

[  ] Fib:
[  ] SMA: 12
[X] EMA1: 8
[X] EMA2: 16
[X] BB

Zoom: 2D (or 1D or 6H)  |  Candlestick: 15

May I ask how you arrived at this SMA? I have as of yet been unable to recreate the visual pattern with the above settings to match consistently with Gunbot's trades.

Thanks for the information that you have already provided us!

ok so a series of questions and understanding:
1- gb buys when it is near 5% on the lower bb. if setting is done high_bb and low_bb as 5..  yes/no?
2- when does it sell the above bought  ? is some % profit confgured which triggers this ?
3- what happens if the price drops and doesnt come up after the buy from bb ? Is this where the bags are created ?
4- is there any details of other strategies found anywhere ?

thanks

I'm sorry... I think I need EMA stuff dumbed down a bit more for me.  I've seen pretty much everywhere that 2 and 4 is a good setting, but the GUI in v3.3.2 defaults to .02 and .04 for this setting.  Do I leave it at that or change it to 2 and 4?  Can someone explain it one more time for me please?  And I mean how Gunbot is using it not how to chart it in Poloniex.  Thanks!

STEPGAIN and more current config file explanation here: https://github.com/meesterdude/gbwiki/wiki/3.3.2-example-config

But it says EMA1  period..time, in hours..

Bellow that Candlestick period...time, in minutes and we put 15 which makes sense

Why we put 0.02 for 2 hrs?  Gunthar needs to fix that

I have been searching days now... to get right setting for my new Gunbot V3.3.

(EMA1, EMA2).

Like many of Nubs, I just don't simply get it.  I tried different setting 0.02, 0.04, 0.15, 0.3....
Test to see where Gunbot buys, but it not even close to where it supposed to buy.

I am trying to use Gain Strategy.  5 "% below EMA you want to buy"
I read somewhere...  Gutbot will buy at 5% lowest of two. (EMA1 or EMA2).

I want to setup 200 period of EMA on 15 mins candlestick.
Can anyone tell me how I should set my EMA1, or EMA2 ??

Tks~

Hello guys,

Also new here like many others seeking for some help.

My doubt is about BB buy 'n sell strategy.

We are supposed to set a BB % so the bot knows where to buy/sell. Buuut, what I see is when the BB is hit, most of the times the trend continues to drop ou going higher in the next candles to come.
My point is: shouldn't the bot buy/sell after a reversal trend?

See what I wanna mean in this chart.
Blue arrows points what I wanna mean by hitting the BB % and trend continuity.
https://www.coinigy.com/s/i/59cec48db2638/

PS: I understood the GAIN Mininum setting working together so if the BB is too tight the bot won't sell before hit the gain target. But doesn't works in the situation I tried to explain here.

Tks in advance
J.

Hey guys new here, this bit is great by the way!

I just wanted to know peoples opinions on how much you should let the bot trade per trade (ie. 0.1 BTC etc). With respect to how much is initially invested.. I'm looking at putting on $2000 for now, but I don't want it to all go down the drain from too high of a trade. Any help appreciated.

Cheers
Jake

As already written, gunthy does make profits on trades - small profits.

The problem is more the bags (currencies bought and that can't be sold because price felt).
In short, I'd count, for example on 50% of your total trade value in bags.
That maybe sold later on, but are blocked for long durations (days, weeks, months).

So, investing 2000$ results in 1000$ only still active at some term.

Count also that for example only 50% of your pairs will be bought and waiting to be sold.
So, still for example, 1000$ active means 500$ are in bought pairs.
You've an extra 500$ sitting here.
But you should keep this as a cushion, to pay fees, or add a couple of pairs without having to recalculate every pair...

The calculation is now easy: 500$ / 10 pairs = 50$ per pair.

Those aren't actual numbers, which depends on many other parameters, but maybe that gives you an idea - and all this IMO...

Could this be avoided by making the bot cut the losses short? So you have less bags or is this inadvisable...

This does clear up some of my questions though so cheers
