First, what is an instance?
Second:
I am running the latest version of Gunbot on AWS Value: 1vCPU, 2GiB Memory, 80GB root volume, 10GB user volume.
What are realistic expectations for running Gunbot on this VPS?

Ok, so after doing some digging, I've discovered that running "multiple instances" is basically running more than one gunbot "program" on the same computer. See link for more info:
https://gunbot.shop/run-multiple-instances-of-gunbot-and-change-ports/
So, what is the benefit of running multiple instances?

The benefit in running multiple instances is to play against fiat ant BTC on diferent exchanges at the same time. I run one instance on Krak with altcoin-fiat pairs, on the other instance I run altcoin-BTC pairs on Bittrex. It's a bit like hedging, though on a true bear run it does not protect you against loss. It can work well in mixed market conditions, I've had both instances making some moderate profit at the same time for a while in January.
