Gunbot not making decimal trades on Binance?
« on: January 15, 2018, 09:52:46 AM »
Hey guys,

Just started using binance and something caught my attention. I actually lost BTC in some trades.

Gunbot bought 22 shares of some coin. After Binance fees, my balance was 21.978 but Gunbot sold only 21. That actually made my lose money.

Is there a way to work around that?

For now I'm using default emotionless.

This is normal Binance behavior.
If you have BNB, then it will use BNB for trade fees. ( 0.05% )
if you don't have BNB, it wil use the traded coin for fee and you will be stuck with small amounts

https://www.binance.com/fees.html

The solution here is to buy a small amount of BNB to use for fees.

I have a feeling that this Binance constraint messes up how the trades are analyzed. I have tried several different strategies/setups/pairs and when I am holding .99292839482 of some small coin, Gunbot thinks I am holding a position and it tries to sell but it can't because it is too small of a trade. Has anyone run into anything like this?

Same here... Gunbot thinks it should sell and it can't...
Binance already promised they will make an option to trade all those small parts into BNB.
Temp workaround : if you go to the BNB exchange ( BNB-LTC etc... ) , you can sell small leftovers using the market tab/price.

And remember to keep a small stash of BNB for the fees.

I have the same issue in Bitfinex. Orders are placed with a max of 5 digits after the decimal + also left with a tiny amount (less than 1) of a small coin (eg Ripple).

This is not working as Binance has a maximum of five significant digits in the sell option of BNB.

Burning BNB is actually what Binance prefers you do. They create an issue that can be fixed with the coin, but it's just distraction.   It's actually a pretty valuable coin given the revenue they bring in and the buy back program.

It would be better if we could specify the number of decimal places to trade with and coins to ignore if value is less then what can be traded.
