Beginners & Help / Re: I'm brand new to trading and Gunbot. Please help.

Hello,

I cannot tell how far along your crypto journey you are so going with what might have helped me.

1) It's as difficult as installing a new browser on your computer.  Some very good documentation also helps you along.

2) There are three parts to this... the first is that you have to have some bitcoin already.  If you don't you need to start by getting a wallet and purchasing some btc.

Secondly you will need to go to the GUNBOT shop.  Here is my referral link if you want to start me on my journey.   https://gunbot.shop/?ref=849   Signup and follow the checkout instructions.  I suggest beginners to start with the ELF version as you can upgrade from there as you start to find your feet.  ELF only has the emotionless strategy which is a very conservative single strategy (trading method) for beginners.

Lastly you will need an exchange so that the bot (which lives on your computers) to make trades for you.  Poloniex and Binance appear to be popular.

3) Success depends on many factors.  I've been playing with GUNBOT for only 2 days now.  First half-day I tried emotionless and made about 0.5%, today I'm trying something different.
With ELF you get one strategy that you can tweak a little but it will work pretty much as soon as you have setup the currency pairs you intend trading.

TLDR: Get coin, get an exchange and fund it, get API, purchase GUNBOT, wait for link, download, install, set pairs... go!

Play it forward and good luck.

A little more research and thinking on this and..  the SMA is actually calculated over the period that you define further up the settings (see image) in period.   The default for me was 15 for period meaning my candlesticks are at 15 minute interval.

So if you have an SMA of 50 and your period up the page is 15, as in candlesticks that are set at 15 minute periods, then you are calculating an SMA over 50 periods X 15 minutes candlesticks.  Said another way, your Simple Moving Average will be the average of 50 periods.  Each period is 15 minutes.

Obviously this is just part of the math, the meaning and implication of changing them comes next.

Good luck.

Hey,

At the bottom of this page there might be a clue.

https://github.com/GuntharDeNiro/BTCT/wiki/Using-Gunthy-GUI

""If you forget the password for Gunthy GUI, remove the file db.sqlite to create a new one. You will lose your settings by doing so.""

Please verify this yourself before messing with your files.  Also note you will LOSE YOUR SETTINGS.

Good Luck

Hi All,

This appears on multiple strategies and is defaulted to 50.    Two questions

1) Why does the mouse over, on the strategies screen, say to use the "same value as on the chart?"
2) Day traders generally will have a shorter SMA value.  Considering the volatility and robot trades, what thought on this being much lower at say 5, 10 or 15?

Thanks!
Jela

Technical Support & Development / Re: 7.02 Waiting on open orders

I have the same issue with Poloniex but it only occurs with one pair.  So some trades are working , some are in the "waiting" state.
