I don't get it. Why does it need to sell the ETH first? Why don't it just buy high and sell low (ideally) ignoring what's deposited in my wallet? Doesn't the cycle start with the buy?

What if I don't want Gunbot to sell what I have in wallet? Please, explain to me how the trading strategy, that requires to deplete existing funds first, works.

"Gunbot will always sell all assets when selling, and will buy according to your set trading limit." From the wiki. That's how the bot is built, it can't ignore deposited assets.

So it needs a bought price for an existing asset (and it will sell everything in the immediate next sale if you manually buy some more of the asset during a trade). And, the moment it is provided with a bought price, it will look to sell the account first, with two exceptions: if you have activated double up and the asset has fallen in value in regard to the provided bought price, then it will buy more of the asset (if within set parameters of double up) OR if sell enabled is set to false. If you have reversal trading activated it will also immediately sell (if within set parameters of reversal trading).

You could circumvent this issue for a small sum of an asset with the min volume to buy and min volume to sell settings, so a small amount of your asset can be kept in your account. But I don't know how much of ETH you intend of keeping, so this may or may not be practical for your specific issue, as these settings are meant more to make the bot ignore the dust in your asset wallet(s).

If you want to keep a coin which is not your base currency, you best move it to a separate account if your exchange allows multiple accounts (some do) - or don't trade it. There might by a third party plugin which enables what you wish (I don't use any, so any help from other users would be very welcome here), but not the bot's original features.

You could keep ETH in your wallet if ETH was your base currency (there's a bot setting on how much of base you keep as your reserve). In your described case you are trading ETH against your base BTC, in which case you can keep only BTC in reserve.

nice graphics you created, cryptosticks!

Hello. Recently Bittrex rolled up new design and along with that change deposit and trade history was cleared.
WARNING: we couldnt get a BOUGHT PRICE for BTC-ETH, Please manually override it using config.js

This is exatly why. It neds to sell all ETH before starting normal trading again. It won't sell if you don't manually insert the bought price of ETH (which the bot can't retrieve because of deleted history).
If you don't know at which price ETH was bought anymore, just pick the nearest number - or one that makes you comfortable.

you are right. gunbot is much better on resources since even version 7. in fact it gets in general much more advanced with every new iteration. there will be bugs, with every build, because new stuff gets added. but it gets more and more value for the money.
btw, my VPS is Italian if interested, aruba.com. the mentioned arrangement costs 7 euros per month, which is about cheap enough if running one or two instances of gunbot. I fear more is not possible, and you have to get more RAM and possibly another core if you want to run 3 or more exchanges, which will add on running costs.

The pic is no longer accessible (removed). Can you summarize, as emotionless really does not have much settings? And I am a bit curious, as I use it on one of my bot instances.

I have the same problem! and "Read The WIKI" is not very helpful (I have read over and over would love more details descriptions)

DirtFisher

In the OP-s case it definitely would help.

I'm running 2 instances of GB on a 40 GB disk, 2 gigs RAM and single core processor VPS ... no problems.

Chaps, take a little control when using emontionless on v.943 ... it sold at loss on 2 trades out of 6 for me today. And the math sometimes doesn't work out on the gain set, despite the new function, where you can enter fees into the strategy.

you'll have to manually clear this if you want to get completely rid of it. manually buy the difference to a value above the trade minimum on binance and right after you bought manually sell the lot. you will loose a little change in the form of both fees. alternatively set in chosen strategy the bot's minimums to buy and to sell above the dust value (then the bot will ignore the dust). read up the wiki on how to set it up correctly.

did you read the wiki?
the bot can't buy, if min vol to buy is set 10 times your trading limit ...

read up on the functions and how to set them.

The benefit in running multiple instances is to play against fiat ant BTC on diferent exchanges at the same time. I run one instance on Krak with altcoin-fiat pairs, on the other instance I run altcoin-BTC pairs on Bittrex. It's a bit like hedging, though on a true bear run it does not protect you against loss. It can work well in mixed market conditions, I've had both instances making some moderate profit at the same time for a while in January.

What you have is a bag. Bags will happen, because the bots TA factors on the most used strategies are a bit too simple to prevent this. OTOH, if you set the strats too conservative, you may never get a buy, and without buying there can be no profit.
Double up has never played out well for me, so If I get a bag, I generally put it in a wallet and wait for better times. I replenish the lost capital and watch more closely my pair selection for a while.

this means that there is too much volatility on the market. it is a safety feature to prevent bags. depending on strategy, it can be turned off.
OKKIES_MODE   true

Values: true or false. Setting this to true disables buy orders when there is too much price and volume pressure on BTC. Configurable with BTC_MONEY_FLOW. Only use this if BTC pumps have a significant effect on your trading pair.

From your post I deduced that you believe there are minimum buy and sell settings. There is no setting for minimum buy and sell, those are only thresholds, designed to ignore dust on your account. There is, hovewer, an exact setting to buy (not to sell, this is strategy setup depending), it's the trading limit.

in the primary. which is your primary? in the notation you wrote, it would be BTC. so, trading volume in BTC, also min volume to buy and min volume to sell in BTC (and these two are not what you think, read the wiki what they are for).

You don't get the bot from him, he is just a reseller. The bot is developed by a team. The bot is a work in progress, it will have bugs. There are several versions of it. I run version 602 on windows. It works very stable, not one error, ever. We all get the same bot, so we all get a working bot. And you can always sell your bot at the marketplace if you feel it's not what you imagined. The point is, these times are not bot trading friendly, at least not with a small capital. You need to have a lot of money put aside to clear bags, and bags will happen, weekly. Successful trading will demand time, lots of money and engagement in a bear market.
