BB settings & Minimum Variation
« on: May 10, 2017, 01:51:58 PM »
When using the BB strat on Polo

I want to know how and what the Minimum variation (3) does exactly, what happens if its changed too lets say from 1-5?

I am currently using BB method with 25/25 - but I can't figure out what relation the price to buy has to the high and low BB values shown in gunbot.

I have set the BB buy price at varying values from 0 to 100, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the 'price to buy' displayed by Gunbot.

I assumed that that calculation would be something like this

Low BB + ((High BB - Low Bb) * 25% )

Please can someone help.

Propably it means the percentage in price difference ,wich makes up the space between the higher and lower bollinger band

Even though the forum is fairly new...there's loads of stuff here.

Here is where the suggestion was made to Gunthar to introduce the strategy to the Gunbot'

here are a few questions about it.

And this is the post that really makes it simple.....gloriously simple.

I am still confused about something, after reading all the links above.

My gunbot is set to use BB strategy per the config files.
But it still seems to be using GAIN anyway, for some reason. even after allowing it time to gather statistics (running over 24 hours).

For example:

2017/06/29 01:23:40     ::::: collecting market data...
2017/06/29 01:23:43     ***************************************************

2017/06/29 01:23:55     price too high

Shouldn't PriceToBuy in this case be 177.7914, not 174.6571?

@plarck

I'd like to know this answer as well. Just fired mine up for first time 13 hours ago using BB/BB on 10 pairs, ran for 7 hours 41 minutes before first trade. I've been getting lots of 422 errors all day rom Poloniex in Coinigy too, even before firing up Gunbot.

Also want to know the answer to this. It seems like it might be ignoring the BB buy/sell prices and only focusing on gain data.

Hi All, what happens if you set the "Max Latest Price" to a value higher than 100, 300, or 600? I am trying to get the bot to be more a curate on her assesment of the pair.

Hello Gunthar,

Please help me understand Bollinger Band strategy on GunBot v3.3.2..., after bot buy coin when the price goes x% above the lowest BB (or better price) and then price go even extremly lower suddently why bot not buy more coin even there are still much more Bitcoin available...

thanks for your explaination..

I'm not the most credited for replying, but I think GunBot is programmed for a looping 1 buy - 1 sell with no actual chanche of additional buys.
That should be a great improvement for price mitigation.

It has to download and analyze enough data before entering BB mode. It runs in GAIN until it achieves enough data, this takes a LONG time. You can vastly improve speed by running a free proxy (works great) https://gunthy.org/index.php?topic=570.0 or pay for proxy (some extra cool features) https://gunthy.org/index.php?topic=491.0

Here is the "simplest" explanation on BB... https://gunthy.org/index.php?topic=169.0
