Beginners & Help / Re: GunBot Not Making Money

Most definitely. A trading limit is what you are essentially investing on each trade, so with a 1 BTC account, a 0.002 trade would represent 0.2% of the total amount you have to trade. If 0.002 would give 1% profit in an emotionless trade, that 1% would in fact represent 0.002% of your total capital.

In a conservative position, it's ok to consider 5% of total capital on each trade. In your case, that would be 0.05. Try that or near that if you feel comfortable with it.

Thanks, Aitor.  That makes sense.

Shouldn't at least some of my pairs made money though?

Is emotionless the best strat for someone that wants to be as hands off as possible?

Hi

Can I join the convo?

It is a stable strategy, that will take small bits without risking too much. So in that sense, yes, Emotionless is a nice strategy.

But other things need to be considered. It's not ideal to leave your investing money exposed to the market all of (or most) of the time. Of course, you can (and must) consider mitigation strategies like averaging, stop losses and so on, but to enter and to exit market in appropriate times is also relevant.

Yes, and also not exactly... consider what Aitor asked you about pair selection. If a significant part of your BTC (or another base coin) is spread in a pool of many coins that are losing value over time, even with positive trades the depreciation may be greater than what is being generated with good coins and good trades.

Or giving you another example: according to the image you posted, you are running 14 pairs. If you were trading manually, would you be able to study and monitor all of the 14 pairs and trade them successfully? Although it's possible, it'd be much simpler to deal with a lower number coins, especially if considering both Technical and Fundamental Analysis.

Give another shot trying a different approach.

Salut,

Hi

Could you post a screenshot so we can have a better idea of the error?

Also, in your Gunbot folder there is a file err.log. Could you attach it here?

Let's solve that

Hi ClothedKing

1. Are there any strategies that prevent me from losing money? If so, what strat is it? If not, how can i minimize my losses?
All of Gunbot strategies can be run with Risk Management functions, like Double UP and RT. Also, you can use stop limits to minimize risks in given coins.

But minimize losses is not only about Gunbot, don't forget you are the pilot, so choose well your coins :)

Quote
2. What are pairs? I see it alot but do not know what it is referring to.
Pairs are the pair of coins your are trading. There are BASE coins and QUOTE coins. In a BTC market, BTC-ETH is a pair, where BTC is que Base and ETH the Quote coin. If we were talking about USD market, then in the pair USD-BTC, USD is the base coin (the coin you have) and BTC is the Quote coin (the coin you want to buy.

Quote
3. When I see Low(30) or high(50) (examples) for BB what is the number referring to?
The Wiki provides a good answer for that: https://github.com/GuntharDeNiro/BTCT/wiki/Bollinger-Bands

So in your case, a LOW_BB = 30 means a point 30% above the lower band of the Bollinger Band.

Think about each border as the start points for the values (Lower when nearer the borders, higher when towards the middle line (SMA).

4. Will there ever be a point in time where Gunbot is no longer updated?
We aim to build the perfect money machine. Until that, the plans are to keep going forwards.
In any case, rest easy, your license for the latest current version will still be valid and running.

5. Emotionless loses me profits, why is that?
Could you elaborate more about that?

Quote
6. If there are any detailed guides on how to pick the right strat for the right coin could you link it to me?
I dont believe in 'right strat for right coin'. Many strategies Gunbot offers can be used to achieve similar results, like different computing languages can get similar results. This is especially valid now that most strats can use TrailME and confirmation indicators like RSI.

7. Where do you advise me to go to get a better understanding of Gunbot/Crytpocurrency/Best strategies to use?

Investopedia is a place where you can better learn about the indicators and check which ones are more suitable for your needs/style. For instance, description of BB is available at https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/bollingerbands.asp

After that, you can visit Wiki (your best friend) https://github.com/GuntharDeNiro/BTCT/wiki and check each strategy, so you can learn how Gunbot uses the indicators on its trading logic.

If you want to really know what is coming in the next release, check the Beta Wiki: https://github.com/GuntharDeNiro/Gunthy/wiki

The official Telegram channels are where the most recent news/doubts/experiences are shared.

Beginners & Help / Re: Day Trading with Gunbot?
« on: July 18, 2018, 02:46:14 PM »
Hi Svenska

Both, according to the trader profile?

You can make daily trades and withdrawal your profit, close Gunbot and restart again on the next day. That's an option

Or you could make your analysis in a higher timeframe, decide the risk management strategy, and trade longer.

Or you can make both, using different accounts, different instances.

There is no rule of thumb for that. If daytrading, one'd be looking for good entrances with short term exits. If swing trading, one could aim for a higher gain with less risk then if comparing to a pumping coin in a single day. But again, it goes according the profile of each trader.

Wow, that brings some memories!

Installing it now!

General Discussion / Re: VPS Recomendation
« on: November 17, 2017, 02:09:38 PM »
I am using Router Hosting as VPS provider. For the last two days my server has been crashing and crashing non stop. In spite of that support doesn´t find anything wrong with the node. I use it only to run Gunbot 3.3.2  on it

Is there any recommended VPS?

Contabo offers the best cost/benefit ratio. For about USD 10 one can get:

Linux plan
4 Cores
12GB Ram
300GB Full SSD

If opting for windows, for about 15USD one can get:
2 Cores
6GB ram
500GB SSD boosted.

If planning to stay in GB 3.3.2, Windows bring some easiness to users, offering the GUI. However, if planning to change to Gunbot XT (recommended) that offers a web-based GUI, Linux now is the best choice... fast and lightweight... just download and extract the new GB, run the GUI server and never touch your server again :)

If interested in contabo plans, please check this link

Best regards

Beginners & Help / Re: Gunbot not buying for over a month!
« on: November 10, 2017, 11:56:21 PM »
Dear Gunbot Community,

I configured a trading pair BTC/LSK and BTC/OMG about a month ago, i am using bb for buy and sell and i configured bb high and low at 40. I have never bought OMG or LSK myself so the reason isn't because the trading amount is to low, my console gives me the following message Price buy: 0.00086209 | Price sell: 0.00000000, it is a bit strange that it says "sell: 0.00000"

I was using gunbot 5.0.5 but i upgraded today to gunbot xt (version 6).

Could someone help me, help would be much appreciated :)

greetings!

Hi andreas

What is your trading limit?
Are they the only pairs running or are they the only pairs not trading?

Any news since you started XT and posted the issue?

Beginners & Help / Re: Gunbot XT on Linux
« on: November 10, 2017, 11:49:08 PM »
Hi AI

In fact it's quite simple:

1 - Download GB to your Linux VPS and unzip it as usual
2 - Chmod +x gunthy-gui-linx64 guinthy-linx64
2 - Run gunthy-gui-linx64 with ./gunthy-gui-linx64. It will point to localhost:5000 <- do not consider it
4 - Instead, in your browser in your local computer, use the IP you use to reach your VPS using SSH, like 123.124.125.126:5000

It should open the Gui and prompt you to create a password.

If it doesn't help, send me a screenshot with the error, but I'm sure it will work

Best regards

Hello Meowmeow

1 - Download GB to your VPS, be it Windows or Linux
2 - Extract the files
3 - Run gunthy-gui-xxx. It will point to localhost:5000 <- do not consider it
4 - Instead, in your browser in your local computer, use the IP you use to reach your VPS, like 123.124.125.126:5000

It should open the Gui and prompt you to create a password.

Also make sure that gunthy-gui, in case of running in windows, is allowed in the wifi networks you regularly use.

If it doesn't help, send us a screenshot with the error, but I'm sure it will work

Best regards

Why are you running gunbot in system32?

Move your gunbot folder to another place that doesn't require administrator rights.

General Discussion / Re: My first results with Gunbot 4.0.1 patch #4013
« on: August 24, 2017, 05:33:16 AM »
Hi Guys,

The test was made using first 4.0.1 then 4.0.2

When the cycles were not running correctly - and even when the process seemed to be dead - the bot made some good trades.

I'm in travel, so there's almost a week I'm not running bots. I've been reading things about 4.0.3/4/5 versions but I still could not test them. I hope I'm able to run the tests in 4.0.1/2 in two days, then I'll be back to inform the results.

Beginners & Help / 4.0.X - How to run Proxy CE
« on: August 15, 2017, 10:58:09 PM »
Hello Guns!

While my 4.0.1 / 4.0.2 were trading even showing sparse cycles in the monitor, I wondered, like other users, if Proxy CE could be used with it until a GB release solves the sparse cycles thing in a definitive way.

By reading the official release notes, I already knew it could be used with PM2. In Proxy CE chat, Diesel had already share the useful yaml file he's using, but I would not like to pm2.

On the other side, how to add the NODE_TLS_REJECT_UNAUTHORIZED=0 ?

Being novice in Linux, I went again to Proxy CE chat for some help and Jeff B pointed that it could be easily achieved with a bash script.

I tested and it's working gracefully. Here are the steps:

  • Configure you proxy as in the official page
  • Download the attached file  in this post and and save in your Gunbot folder
  • Alternatively, you can open a text editor add the lines below and save it as proxy.sh:
Code: [Select]
#!/bin/bash
NODE_TLS_REJECT_UNAUTHORIZED=0 ./gunthy-linx64
  • In your GB folder, make it executable: chmod +x proxy.sh
  • Run your proxy
  • Run Gunbot by typing: ./proxy.sh
  • Trade  :)

Thanks for Diesel and Jeff B for helping me with the issue and Elroy for keeping the proxy updated. Please donate to him (also for other devs like Beer K0in, Andrew and others)... donation rate is low and utilization of their tools  is high.

Another account, another 4.0.x run, this time, 4.0.2 :)

A tiny test account this time, but 4X versions are showing us the reason they took so long to arrive :)
