Good morning,

Are there issues with the gunbotserver?
Gunbot is spitting errors, I think due to Error: connect ECONNREFUSED 138.197.69.201:5000.
It worked fine untill i rebooted the bot.

regards

Technical Support & Development / What a buggy bot this is
« on: October 28, 2020, 05:59:37 AM »
Hello, could someone help me?

Problem 1.

Currenctly I am running normal 'long' BBTA-BBTA strategy on v18.3. Ive decided to retry this strategy. In the past  the BBTA-sell function seemed buggy, though i did not have the time to properly research it, and tssl was a safe alternative. after research, modelling, simming and cross referencing results with tradingview I have the framework to focus on a BBTA-sell.

I've noticed that GB turns the buy and sell levels around. See screenshots. BBTA-sell levels are at 40%. At first I could not  understand why the sell was near the low BB-band enveloppe, untill i realised that the sell-level represented the purchasing level of the coin. The buy level then makes sense as well, it is the sell level. Numerically this is also what the bot does, so it does not seem to be a 'graphical' interface fluke.

How do I fix this?

Update: even though the sells and numerical values were switched the bot checked out at the BBTA40% mark.

Problem 2.
when I use GB v18.8 I get an encyclopedia's worth of errors. after lisiting the exchanges and showing my accountlevel, it rains errors and it doesnt start.
v18.3 shows the exchanges, accountlevel, waits, ponders it place in life, then starts posting trading action. - works.

Problem 3.
Gunbot v18.3 is unstable when approaching the interface (webbrowser). the bot often reboots and mentions bitrage issues a lot. I don't use bitrage.
Also when i zoom in on a coin the bot often reboots. It works fine on coinbase/gdax, but poloniex, kraken, bitfinex it happens a lot.

venting Frustration:
In my experience this is a very buggy piece of software. stoplosses dont get triggered if there is a strong candle piercing the stoplimit. single buy still produces instances in which the bot keeps buying a coin because a buy signal is generated at times (even after a supposed fix). Now sell and buy levels get swapped around. there are simply too many bugs.

I find it odd that v18.8 focusses on a turbo turbo contest edition, while the core function of the program isn't working properly.

No offense but I have been getting up at 04:50 A.M. every workday for the last year, so I could spend 1.5 hours of homework towards setting good strategies for gunbot, just before I go to my job. setting parameters, building strategy models, simming on these models, simming on tradingview, etc. It is hard work finding a strategy with good returns and high win to loss ratios. Finding buggs like this after a years worth research is frustrating. I have to account for an enormous drawback due to bot error. Its not acceptable.

edit; made the post more constructive and structured.

3
I can confirm the same error. I did not change telegram settings. from one moment to the other this error was generated. Rebooted the PC from my end. no luck on fixing it.

I think something on the side of the gunbot service broke.

Aitor,

Ive changed the infrastructure and I am now utilising a monitoring program to keep a pulse on my internet connection setup. Since the change, v18 runs stable. There has to be a change in the way that the versions after 16.3 handle the network. I hope this solution lasts.

Update:

after having used the v18.3, I can conclude that IF it gets beyond the first 15 minutes it runs stable. however, it often stops dead in its tracks. then you have to restart the bot, try again. it freezes, you have to stop the bot, try again. I have to work besides trying to get the bot running , so this is less than ideal.

Update;

I have recuded all double pairs I ran on different exchanges, bringing the number of pairs back to 6-8 per exchange, 35 in total. the bot has ran stable on v18 for over 24 hours now.

Aitor,

I have tried the v18.3. I have the same issue within 10 minutes as with the v16.9. Running v16.1 once again.

Currently I am testing a different internetconnection to see if it is more stable. Note however that at times the connection plays up, it also recovers. If this is the reason, the v16.1 manages it better than the newer versions.

Hello Aitor,

Does the newer version work differently from the v16 version regarding connection stability? I have many instability issues between my ISP modem/router and windows operated machines. My ISP handles it as a 'working as intended', so I do not expect a fix for it, unless I can get a fibre optics connection (not available) or invest in a dongle.

If the 16.9 handles the connection differently that that could be the case. If it handles the connection similarly, then I think the cause lies in another part.

Could you fill me in on this? Thanks again!

Hello guys,

might there be an issue with the gunbot "server"? I get a timeout to 198.54.117.199:5000. Gunbot will not even display licence information before the error is given.
Ive reinstalled the bot and so renewed the bot acces through my firewall. internet is not a problem on the gunbot machine, tested it.
The issue emerged about 1.5 hours ago.

if there is anything I can check on my side, let me know.

regards.

Aitor,

Thnx! Ive increased the delay time and removed pairs from the bot untill there were no more rate limit issues. After a while the bot stops dead in its tracks. the CMD of the bot just freezes, e.g. it does not print new activities on pairs. the interface does not refresh its data.

Update: I keep experiencing the rate limit issues with the v16.9. The botprogram is complaining about coinbase pro rate limits.

I run some 10-15 pairs per exchange; When this occurs it seems to only run 1/3rd of the pairs on all exchanges based on the active pairs section in the dashboard, and the remaining 2/3rd remain 'blank'.

I occasionally have rate limits with coinbase pro on the v16.1, however the bot seems to continue to work (no blanks in active pairs).

rate limits on CB pro are set to 26, with only running 8 pairs.

any suggestion?

Hello Aitor,

I was running the 16.1 version. I tried the 16.9, the but had many rate limit issues and after a while froze, so I quickly switched back to the 16.1.

After having read your post I've returned to 16.9. It appears it is currently running without rate limitation issues (5 mins so far). I will monitor if the bot keeps functioning, and after that monitor if the issue with the multiple positions is still present in the 16.9 version.

Beginners & Help / Single_Buy question
« on: February 26, 2020, 11:16:31 AM »
Hello guys,

In the latest retracement of the crypto market I used a macd-strategy trying to capture coins at a more favourable price. In order to reduce risk, I want te bot to only purchase a pair once, and then sit it out, either using the strategy to sell the coin with a profit or let it trigger the stoploss. Therefore I have set "Single_Buy" to true for all my strategies in the config file.

I have noticed however that the Bot keeps buying a pair that it allready got into position with. Therefore the bot spends to much funds on this one pair that is generating multiple buying signals over the course of half a day. Adding a override "single_Buy = true" did not resolve the issue,

Do I misunderstand what the option Single_Buy does? How do I prevent the bot from gettin into multiple positions over time?

Thank you for the responses in advance,

Regards.

Update: trading limit is 2.5 times the value of MVTB

Hey m8,

hope this clarifies some things for you.

1. Are there any strategies that prevent me from losing money? If so, what strat is it? If not, how can i minimize my losses?
-> there are no strategies that wil prevent you from losing money. investing in crypto is risky business. Having that said, there are ways to reduce risk. consider using a stoploss (stop_limit) in your gunbot strategy. this measure sells a coin when it is down by x% from the breakeven point. Another way of handling risk is using double up. This buys more coin at a lower price in order to work with a lower average buy price. reversal trading is also available on the bot. I think this trategy will sell the coin when its down a certain amount, and buys it thereafter according to your strategy, increasing the amount of coin it buys to offset the loss selling incurred. read up on the strategies on the gunbot wiki, and do research on how these strategies are implemented by pro's.
-> experiment and find good strategies that work in the different market conditions. there are different confrming indicators you can use, ADX, RSI, StochRSI, MFI, MFI buy protection. read up on the gunbot wiki how to operate them. read up on literature how these indicators work to your advantage. you can also use the backtesting tool. I would not build on this blindly, as the tool is prone to many biases: use the tool for many coins that are in a similar trend. if the results are good on most pairs, the settings are probably good for the market trend youve tested for.
-> consider that trading on longer timeframes (period= half a day [720] or a day [1440] are safer, as you are following the main(longer lasting)  trend of the coin. traiding intradaily can be profitable, however you are working with trends that have a shorter timespan to develop profitable. Drawback is having more patience, as there will be lesser trades. there is allways a catch in the choice you make. Consult the gunbot wiki in the bot to see what periods your exchange supports
-> use small amounts of money when buying. dont put all your eggs into one basket. also while you are learning to gunbot, this allows you to experiment without losing too much cash, and taking losses with more ease.
-> start experimenting with markets that are going up. the trend is your friend so its more forgiving when you buy at a wrong price.

2. What are pairs? I see it alot but do not know what it is referring to.
A pair is basically a crypto coin you want to trade for a currency (the pair). the currency can be in fiat money ( euros, dollars etc.)or other crypto currency (BTC, ETH). This is mostly determined by what the exchange supports. example: I want to trade ethereum for bitcoins, then my pair is BTC-ETH. If I want to trade monero's for euro's, the pair is EUR-XMR. From the example: the currency comes first, then the pair. Make sure you have currency on the exchange.
3. When I see Low(30) or high(50) (examples) for BB what is the number referring to?
-> Bollinger bands is an interesting technical analysis tool that is very rich in what it explains. I would suggest reading 'on Bollinger bands by John Bollinger' if you want to truelly understand the tool. basically, the tool creates a dynamic envelope around a simple moving average. the envelope is determined by 2x standard deviation, capturing 89% of price movements in the stock market. --> Read: the price mostly is in the envelope. if the price touches the lower envelope band prices have a higher probability of going up, when touching the upper band is has a higher probability of going down. This is not allways the case, in trended markets the price action can walk up or down the upper and lower band.
-> BB Low value offsets where the bot will buy relative to the lower bollinger band. you van have negative values, setting the price lower, or positive values, moving the price up into the bollinger bands. at 50 you tell the bot to buy when the price is equal to the middle.
-> BB upper value offsets were the bot will sell relative to the upper band. negative values cant be used. this time you offset the sell price downwards towards the lower BB limit. 50 is at the middle (the simple moving average

4. Will there ever be a point in time where Gunbot is no longer updated?
-> cant awnser this one. for know I have enjoyd many updates and improvements.
5. Emotionless loses me profits, why is that?
-> see my response to question one. no strategy will ever be 100% profitable. see risk reduction and picking the right strategies fpor the right market trends. gunbotting is a long process of trial and error to get it right.
6. If there are any detailed guides on how to pick the right strat for the right coin could you link it to me?
->I am still experimenting. maybe other gunbotters have better tested strategies. learn to read trends from the charts. identify areas of support and resistance and come up with a strategy that is able to profit.
7. Where do you advise me to go to get a better understanding of Gunbot/Crytpocurrency/Best strategies to use?
-> I would suggest to read up on some of the buying strategies on internet. Plural, because there is no strategy to rule them all. Read up on the indicators. read up on what people do who have lived off technical analysis for multiple decades. Understand that they have not the 100% awnser, it is there only to provide a piece to your puzzle. also read up on the gunbot wiki to understand how the indicators of the bot work.
-> remember, 95% of people in crypto lose money overall. If it was easy, everyone would be rich allready. So try to find out what 5% of people are doing

Sorry if these are too obvious of questions i am absolutely new to trading and Gunbot, Thank you for any of your help!

gunbot broke on me this morning. rebooting, rebooting pc, removing binance from the config file results in errors for huobi.

Any idea how to fix it?

Technical Support & Development / Gunbot 16 less stable and bought issues
« on: January 17, 2020, 01:29:43 PM »
Hello,

Is there a way to report bugs? Ive recently used gunbot 16 and found it had some quirks over v15.

For one the bot seems less stable, when i click on a pair in the dashboard to zoom in on the pair (see candlesticks, and options to manual trade) the bot can 'soft' crash ("spit out only errors, do nothing else").

In addition, the bot seems to 'soft' chrash after some time, It spits out data on undefined parameters etc.

Also I have noticed that at times the bot can not find buy data on a pair that it found no trouble with before. It reports in (dashboard, active pairs) that the bought_price was altered. The trade can not be found back in the recent trades (dashboard active trades), even though it was there before. After manually adding a bought price, the bot says there are no coins in the bag (Dashboard, active pairs), and so it is looking to buy, while there is a substantial bag in the wallet (Dashboard, wallet). I can only resolve this by manually selling the pair, which is somewhat ok when the coin is up. While the coin is down, this is costing money.

regards
