it doesn't, because it can't. bags are dragging your profits down (and you have double up disabled).

you should not let the bot run on its own, specially not for months (and set for buying on low bb 40). pair supervision and settings should be done daily.
strategy tune-up should be done according to market conditions. this is not a set and forget thing. or, you can run it that way ... but then no profit for you. specially not in bloodbath times, like late november, second half of january, ...

Ah, that’s true, I didn’t include all the altcoins the bot is currently holding and haven’t sold yet into my calculation! And now that I looked that is quite a few bags. But how do you mean “it cant”? Is there a built-in safety mechanism in the bot that’s preventing it from ever selling at a loss?

I have had my bot running on Poloniex more or less non-stop for the last few months. I was under the impression that everything was working fine until I today downloaded all the bots trade history and analyzed it.

I found, to my horror, that the bot is slowly but steadily eating away at my account balance and loses money pretty much every day.

This plot shows a running sum (cumulative sum) of the bots daily total sell amount in BTC minus the total daily bought BTC amount. So if the bots sells for more than it buys, this should be positive, which it basically has never been, apart for getting lucky at the start of January when altcoins exploded for a few days.

Could anyone tell me why in the name of all that is holy the bot seems to sell at a loss when I have asked it to sell with a gain of 2.15 %?

I have been running Gunbot XT for a few weeks now and never had any errors. But now, as soon as I start the bot my error window fills up with this:



I am using the same strategy as I always have been so I’m not doing anything new. I’ve tried restarting Gunbot and the computer multiple times but still I get the same thing.

Does anyone know what this is about and how I can solve it?

I was very skeptical when I first read this so I didn’t bother trying it for a few days. But now I did, and it works!! The bot just made its first buy! Thank you so much for the help.

One question though, if all the Bolinger bands are calculated with the simple moving average, what purpose does the EMA1 and EMA2 settings have?

OK, now to relevant settings (but 5 or 15 minutes for your period). You have firstly to align your bot with the charts. Have you read this:

•If you are not using gunthy api (GUNTHY_API false):
◦For Poloniex and Kraken: ◾set PERIOD to 5/15/30/60 the same than you have on chart
◾set EMA1 end EMA2 equal to the number of candlesticks you have in the period of observation. Example: if you have PERIOD 15 and you want to use 2 hours, set EMA1 to 8. For 4 hours: set EMA2 to 16.
◾The BB formula is provided like this (you can change any of those values in config, provided array is "close"):

◾ ◾Middle Band = SMAPERIOD simple moving average (SMA)

◾ ◾Upper Band = SMA (from above Middle Band) + (SMAPERIOD standard deviation of price x STDV)

◾ ◾Lower Band = SMA (from above Middle Band) - (SMAPERIOD standard deviation of price x STDV)

Now you can look up your BB chart and see if the price reaches set values at all and adjust low BB accordingly. Then you will get a buy.

period 1 minute is a bit harsh. this gets the emas on 12 to 24 minutes, too spiky. set to 5 to 15 minutes and see.

I changed the period setting to 10 (PERIOD : 10) as you suggested and its now been running for 24 hours, but still the bot hasn’t done anything at all…

This is what the command window looks like when I run it. Does that look the way it should or is it missing something?

I bought Gunbot a few weeks ago and ran it for a couple of days with the bolinger band strategy on Poloniex. The bot seems to be running but it never bought or sold anything at all during the time I ran it, so I made a post on this forum and someone said that the version I was using was likely bugged. So I just waited for a new version to come and hopefully fix it.

Now that the new version is here I have been running Gunbot XT non-stop for about a week on 3 pairs, and still it hasn’t made a single trade. All Im getting is "Scanning poloniex for trading opportunities" and a heartbeat from the exchange, over and over again.

Does anyone have a clue what could cause that? And could someone send me the settings they use to get several trades per day so that I can try them and see if I can get the bot to give me some signs of functionality at all?

The settings I’m using now are:

I have the exact same situation. I am unable to run anything newer than V5.04, and I have been running it more or less non-stop since I bought it ~2-3 weeks ago now and it hasn’t made a single trade. Nothing at all.

If it wasn’t for all the people around here claiming that the bot works for them I would be feeling quite scammed by now for buying a bot that does nothing. Please make sure you post here again if you find a solution because you are not alone with this problem!

Technical Support & Development / Unable to get v5.05 to work: Error: Invalid start time.

I got the bot yesterday and I’ve been running v5.04 for about a day now on BB strategy (5 min period 40/40 buy/sell) but it hasn’t made any trades at all, even thought the charts show plenty of opportunity it seems.

So I decided to try v5.05 and see if it’s a bug that has been patched already, but when I start v5.05 I keep getting the error:

“Error on strategy BB for BTC_ETH on poloniex while getting ema2 -\ Error: Invalid start time.”

Does anyone know what that is about? There seems to be no start time related settings in the config file..
