Beginners & Help / Re: No trade after 12 hours
« on: September 17, 2017, 11:38:59 PM »
Start with a SINGLE pair, on an ascending currency, with some decent/high volume.
Remove ALL other pairs.

Learn and understand the settings.
25/25 BB and 2 GAIN is probably too high - I don't know, try 30/40 and gain sell at 1% , buy at 5% (under).
No reason why you don't have a single trade for a few hours, even for an hour.

Edit: also, with 3.3 leave it some time. AFAIK, at the beginning it uses GAIN as it doesn't have enough data for BB. Carefully set the GAIN the same as in your BB settings. Watch and wait (an hour?) before stopping it, changing any param.

Running an engine not understanding will make you - at best - no profit.

General Discussion / Re: Testing against historical data

Right now people are gambling their money on setting tweaks and figuring out how to match gb bb to bittrex bb.

No they're not supposed to gamble: WATCH_MODE=true EXISTS.

I'd be happier the Dev to fix/ameliorate/finish what exists before starting anything new.
See for example:
https://github.com/GuntharDeNiro/BTCT/issues/115

I say this... but I'm a developper, so, I understand ;-)

Yes: no - because historical is... historical ;-)
That's easy to see where you should have bought and sold afterwise.

Sincerely, watch mode may give you a better idea on how it's difficult, and what GB will try, depending your configuration, which is the key. IMO.

In 5.0.4 (at least) "WATCH_MODE": true

Allows you to see what it would buy or sell, or recommend to. I think.

Beginners & Help / Re: help me with low bb
« on: September 17, 2017, 12:47:53 PM »
oh and also, even at the -40 LOW_BB it buys at the peak price, not when it dropped, its really frustrating when i can not understand its behavior with my current setting

Scratch everything.
Restart with ONE CLIMBING pair, trading small amounts, and test/understand ALL the parameters?

Beginners & Help / Re: GUNBOT...the way i run it!
« on: September 17, 2017, 12:42:24 PM »
edit: the bot just sold 100 LISK i had manualy bought this morning, at the price of 0.001475000 when the market was 0.00148542 so this bot is doing something weird. can you please help me?

1) do NOT do manual trade while trying to understand the bot, Einstein ;-)

2) try the bot first on ONE SINGLE pair, and pick one that CLIMBS, not ARK for instance: wrong choice

3) use EASY parameters, BB with 15/15 is far too extreme bottom and tops, yes, you'll probably end up buying nothing or selling nothing. Try 30/30 at least, or 30/40.

4) allow SMALL trading amount, like maybe 0.01

Also set BOT_DELAY to 30 for example - I don't know this parameter, Gunthar provided no info AFAIK, but 1 is too fast.

The idea is not to earn, but to learn.

If you won't manage to understand how it works, I'm sorry but the bot won't probably make you decent gains (apart if you've a ton of money, maybe...) ;-)

Beginners & Help / Re: Minimum Balance For Trading
« on: September 17, 2017, 12:31:50 PM »
Is it reasonable to use the bot with 0.02 btc?

Sure! With maybe 2 or 3 pairs maximum.
But small amount, tiny profits.

And trying to understand and to optimize the engine is a long learning curve: you may gain zilch - at the best - or even loose during this process.
In short, this is very small to start.
I'd recommend to do it only if you can add some more funds later on.

Otherwise, manual trade with your full amount is another option to consider.

Beginners & Help / Re: Why did this trade happen?
« on: September 16, 2017, 08:53:09 PM »
GAIN is in between buying price and selling price :

"gain": {
         "BTC_TRADING_LIMIT": 0.005,
         "PERIOD": 15,
         "BUY_LEVEL": 5,
         "GAIN": 1,
(etc)

BUY_LEVEL is I think % below the EMA
GAIN is % profit from the buying price

If you don't use GAIN strategy, it's better to have a conservative GAIN setting, like buy at 5 and sell at 1 or 2 for example.

No idea right now, but gunbot *must* (AFAIK) run in 15 minutes BB (otherwise results are unpredictable).
(and as I can see your 5 minutes setting here, it may also be completely different in 15 minutes BB...)

Also - if you just ran it, depending the version maybe, it may NOT have used BB (not enough values for calculation), but GAIN instead.
Carefully set or check the GAIN values, even in BB.

Beginners & Help / Re: Best proportion for BTC_TRADING_LIMIT
« on: September 16, 2017, 02:12:08 PM »
I'd do:
Set it first with no override.
Let it run for hours, a day, see the pairs that are better working, increase the trading limit with a specific override for each pair, depending your confidence.
At the contrary, if some pair is sinking, override with buy_enabled = false.

Yep!!!
This guy talking about a wrong pair setting was right. Very good, best wishes!

I had this kind of problem (but invalid licence message), it took 2 days and 3 checking from the seller until it worked.
Maybe ask for checking/validating your version 5, as I read it seems a specific validation process...

300, ha ha you're right, I was too fast on this reply :)

I don't (quickly) see a problem in your config.
Find a json checker/formatter tool on the Net, paste your json (removing your scret key), verify it, and paste it back nicely formatted ?

Edit: ah, and maybe... check on bittrex: no opened orders, no problem, API still valid, account verified, etc. ? Maybe it's because something in bittrex? Some amount in some wallet?

215
You probably just werent waiting long enough

No.
It was 2+ days AFTER receiving the email stating the licence was valid and added to the whatever database.
And during those 2 days the 3.3.2 was working like a charm.

Can anyone explain why the new version 5_0_4 has no monitoring and how does it run?
thanks

You don't really need montoring - up to some level.
I guess Gunthar is slowly getting out the interface development (which is time consuiming), and concentrating on the engine itself.
I think it's a good decision (if some others provide the interface, sold as "add-on").

But Gunbot 5.0.4 displays all what it does (in verbose=true), and when it'll take decision, and what it buys or sells.

There is no log, no sum of what has been gained, no history, etc.

I check my marketplace orders list and wallets, to have an history, or calculate whatever I wish.

"BTC_TRADING_LIMIT": 300.00

Are you sure you mean the limit is one million dollar?
Otherwise, instead of as an override, put it in the general setting?

218
Another question.

When you leave gunbot opened and change the config file, it detects and restarts (that's very fine!)

But does it "forget" the prices, for example the 300 ones needed to calculate BB and then "restarts" in GAIN or such "degraded" mode?

In short; does it make a problem to change frequently the configuration (or should I do it say once per day for example?)

Thank you

219

Thanks for this very good version.

Please explain what means this parameter : "BOT_DELAY": 1

The bot seemed to query very fast (maybe too fast for the marketplace), so I changed it to: "BOT_DELAY": 80

It seems better, but still it doesn't seem to correspond to any number of milliseconds or seconds, or ?

In short, please help us to set the bot up so we don't overload the marketplace - thank you!

220
Same for me.
The seller said it checked 3 times, that it was already fine... but magically it suddenly worked and my 5.0.4 works now on bittrex.
