I like to look at the 1 month coin history of ups and downs to give me an idea as to overall volatility.
See these photos:

EMC2 was removed from my list because over the course of 1 month, it continues a decline... too many large dips to be able to recover from in a short time frame, leaving me too exposed to loss.

STEEM stayed on my list because there is quite a bit of daily up and down movement in pricing which works well with the bot buying/selling for a profit.

i think you just have to pick the most volatile pairs, the most volume.
check Coinmarketcap and sellect there those who are above 1 million trading volume.
imho

or check this

The last couple of days have been rough with the drops, but BB is still working for me.  I have a few bags I'm holding on to for now because I feel they will head back up.. don't want to prematurely absorb a loss.  I still monitor the trading a little bit every day just to see how the bot is working with my preferences.  My overall settings are still the same, just removed a couple of coins from the trade list because I don't like the way they're behaving.

I haven't studied the stepgain settings but I'm thinking you will have to watch more closely in a declining market or just hold on and bear the dip until it heads back up.
I still prefer BB.

hi Caveman how is goin bb i am in settings stebgain on v405 but so many bags
can u give your settings please if its still profit for u?

I made one change to that latest config: changed Low BB to 30.  Everything else stayed the same.

As of yesterday's post I was at 0.0579 BTC.  I'm now at 0.0584 BTC.  The bot made some great trades overnight.  FYI- I'm in Las Vegas which is PDT.

Very happy so far.  Almost ready to add more BTC to start ramping up trading volume.

UPDATE: I edited the config again and have been running the bot continuously for the last 5 days.. even through the dip we experienced.  My logic is since it's trading purely on the BTC/xxx ratio, the daily crypto pricing is irrelevant.  I'm looking to increase my BTC holdings overall so when the market hits a high that I feel is worth cashing out, I will.

I started with 0.05 BTC and added another 0.005 BTC during the dip so the bot will continue to trade while holding a few bags.
I now have 0.0579 BTC, so the bot is making a profit throughout the ups and downs.  Obviously this isn't anything to write home about, but it's working so I'll stick with it for a while and tweak as I come up with different ideas.

Attached is my latest config:

I'm hoping Gunthar or one of the other technically in the know people here can explain specifically how the EMA settings in the purely BB trading strategy impact the bot's calculations of buy/sell.  It will buy even if there aren't any EMA parameters defined in the strategy but will not sell without something there.

I'm wanting to make some changes once I know exactly how it looks to and uses that information and in what priority order.

Example: BB selling will only allow you to sell in the upper BB band you define, but only if you reach your minimum Gain as defined.

Now I just need to know exactly how the EMA band specifications impact the bot's decision making on buying/selling and averaging.

Thanks!

Hey Crypto,

I'm a new user as well.  It's working so far for me.  I'm on v4.0.5.
See my new thread here:  https://gunthy.org/index.php/topic,1131.0.html
Hopefully this will help you get rolling in the right direction.
Keep in mind, I'm new at this so I'm figuring it out as I go along.

I bought GunBot a few days ago and spent the first few days playing around with different configurations/trading protocols, etc.
Yesterday I switched to purely BB trading & it's making a profit so far.

Here are some examples:

Attached is the config I'm currently using.  I'm running it on an old Win 7 machine with a Core 2 Duo.  It seems to be running well overall.

UPDATE:

I started with a fresh config file and input my API, etc.
Edited the config file to successfully run 3 pairs and to run on dobrypto's bbgain settings:

"bbgain": {
         "BTC_TRADING_LIMIT": 0.01,
         "PERIOD": 15,
         "GAIN": 1,
         "LOW_BB": 35,
         "EMA1": 100,
         "EMA2": 50,
         "PANIC_SELL": false,
         "DOUBLE_UP": false,
         "STOP_LIMIT": 40,
         "BUY_ENABLED": true,
         "MIN_VOLUME_TO_BUY": 0.0005,
         "MIN_VOLUME_TO_SELL": 0.0005

It's running right now. So far so good.  I'll keep it like this for a little while then add more pairs.

I'm running v4.0.5 on Poloniex.
Core 2 Duo Win 7 machine
Editing config file with Notepad

I can input my API/secret keys and it'll launch and run fine on the default pair and settings.
As soon as I try to input multiple pairs into the config file, Gunbot shows error codes failing to load config file.
I even downloaded dobcrypto config file and get the same issue.. thinking my Notepad app is corrupting the file.
Any suggestions?
