I would not use the backtesting addon. It has many biases and when comparing results from live trading action from the bot with the tool afterwards its not even close.

I'll study and experiment some more and see where it takes me :D.

Hi guys!

I was hoping someone would have a suggestion to help me out. I am currently trying to configure gunbot to buy intradaily for a small profit based on cycles theory by Walter Bressert. So far I use MACD as a buying strategy, and a tight TSSL as a sell with a long stochastic RSI crossover as a 'upwards volatility indicator. For this to work it is essential that tssl can do its job without other indicators interfering with the selling process.

Im looking for an indicator that tells gunbot to buy at the upcycle; so it buys into the strength of momentum.
Normally a stochastic can do that perfectly, however gunbot only looks down from the buylevel. I've tried a 40 periods RSI  with a cross up of 50 (cycle up RSI +50, cycle down RSI -50). Allthough this  "seems" to work, I get the feeling gunbot is actually looking for the crossover and not as much to the fact that the RSI is higher than the buy level (= exactly how the wiki describes it).

I've been theorizing over EMA, MFI and ADX.  All great indicators, however... EMA brings nothing new to the table that MACD doesn't do, MFI only seeks opportunities below the buy level (and doesn't consider cycle information -> bad sync.). ADX comes with a sell condition as far as I can see, which is counterproductive.

I was hoping that maybe someone might have a suggestion that could complement my strategy to increase the probability to buy into the strength of a cycle.

I have resolved the issue and I feel pretty dumb. I forgot to add the exchange in the swap exchanges page first. that resolved the issue.

Beginners & Help / Huobi license problem

Hi guys,

I have tried adding Huobi as my fifth exchange to gunbot. Gunbot reports that it is an invalid license, and that I should contact my reseller.

I assumed a typing error or faulty API key, so I have tried 3 sets of API keys, and made sure the keys were correct. I tried with IP limitation, and without IP limitation. I tried switching the key and secret around.

after fiddling around, searching the forums, and googling the issue, I am without an idea what to do.
For my other 4 exchanges, the bot works fine.

What could be the problem / any suggestions on how I can resolve it?

thank you for replying. I suspected that it had to do with the delay as well; trading action also differ per exchange, so the pairs are similar, but not alike.

As for the double buy protection, any thoughts on that?

  • The stoploss under misc would act as a set percentage of what you call "gain" in long position?
  • presumably the "Stop sell order" acts as what you call a stoploss in a long position

What does the stop buy order do?

Hello guys,

I have two questions that I hope you can clarify for me.

So in the past days I'm datamining the gunbot logs to get a better understanding of the way the bot sees his environment. It has been really clarifying, allthough the logs come at 3 minute intervalls, so they are not all encompassing.

Yesterday there was a nice opportunity for an agressive small profit on XML. I noticed because on kraken my bot bought, while on GDAX and Binance it didn't.  I run a BBTA buy strategy of similar pairs on these exchanges. After checking the logs and datamined graphs, I noticed two things;

Situation 1) The bot let the opportunity pass.
on binance the bot let the moment go by. The graph based on bot data showed a clear signal, and it was confirmed when I compared it with the log.

What happend was that the ask and buy prices fell below the lower BB (set to 0%). gunbot reported the price not being inside the BB yet, indicating it was waiting for the opportunity. Then the next log cycle (some 2-3 mins later) price was above the entry again and gunbot reported that it was "waiting to buy, price is to high".

My hypothesis is that as the but runs on a delay of 20 seconds, the price shifted from below the BB to in the BB within the 20 seconds. therefore the bot "missed the opportunity".

If so, does takebuy + a sliver of percentage fix this? If my hypothesis is incorrect, could you clarify it?

Situation 2) Double buy protection
The bot wanted to buy, however reported "Double buy protection: we just bought.",

Yet no buying took place. Ive had this before, and I thought I solved it by increasing the amount of funds per trade. These are now high enough, so it can't be the cause.

No hypothesis

Could anyone clarify the situation?

Good afternoon,

I was hoping someone could shed light on an event today. I have recently fired up gunbot again and I am trying to understand the inner workings of the bot. Today a nice opportunity to sell occured on the XLM-EUR pair, in which I expected the bot to sell.

I am using the BBA-TSSL strategy, and on sell, the bot should trail the price @ 0.5%. The initial exit was set at (e) 0.06777244 by the bot. With a price peaking at 0.068, I expected the bot to sell. After checking with the bot, I found that it sold the pair with a loss of 99.6% due to triggering the stoploss (I set the initial at 3%).

The log shows things I dont understand.

What happenend?

Technical Support & Development / Binance: often temporary banned, number of pairs?

Goodmorning / afternoon, evening, Night!

I'm having some issues with Binance. I experience a lot of temporary bans on the exchange. After some experimentation I found out that I can only run 4 pairs at a time, by setting Bot_delay to 30 and interval update to 30000.
When I run 4 pairs, i can not even check on binance in the browser, as it can result in a temporary ban.

Is this a common issue; are you only allowed to trade 4 pairs, or is it an issue at my end? In case of the last, does someone have advise on how to resolve the issue?

I resolved this. After some testing and backtracking I found out that  Panic sell seemed to block buying. After setting it to false the issue was resolved!

ok, I seem to have gotten a buy in! I set panic sell to false. I assumed panic sell was combined with the stoploss value; panic sell would toggle the stoploss on. The scripts of the pairs are now saying they are entering a buying cycle.

Can anyone confirm that these settings mutually exclude, or that panic sell is blocking buying orders?

Good evening!

I need some help. I have ran gunbot for a couple of days on gdax and binance, but it wont trade, even though there where very nice opportunities to buy and sell according to allansters tuner. I fear that I have some settings set wrong.

Today I started an experiment to see if the bot would trade. I set up a ping pong strategy to make sure I passed buying and selling limits. I passed the buying limit on several occasions, but the bot wont buy.

The bot is not giving errors and it seems to communicatie A-ok with the exchange.
The bot is not in watch mode.

Could someone please point me to the settings I am using wrong?

Good evening from this side of the globe.

Today I have started fumbling around with gunbot. Im really looking forward to tweaking strategies to increase profitability over time! For that I am trying the bbtssl strategy. Low entry, and hopefully exiting with a nice profit via a trailing stoploss!

Im in the process of understanding how the bots settings effectuate in practise. Today Ive run into the situation in the PDF. The market price was below the entry point, plus the market was going up. Gunny did not buy however. I wonder why?
When I calculated the entry position and the upper band on the chart, the attainable gain was less then a percent. Could that have been the reason, e.g. is Gunny this smart?
