General Discussion / Re: Gunbot bought 3 lots of the same alt coin

Gunbot should never sell at a loss! Is there something wrong in your settings?

I'm assuming the bot bought at different prices and the last order happened to be the one with the lowest price. Then it used that price to determine the selling price, which would be lower than the selling price for the first order.

I thought that, but that doesnt work out either.  It sold at 0.074 but even using the slightly lower 3rd buy price it shouldn't have been lower than 0.075.

Bought a double lot of another one overnight.  Seems a regular occurrence.

Nope, its completely std (just doing BB with settings as it comes), not altered anything other than the amount of btc to trade.    It doesnt seem to be doing very well at the moment, i was assuming it was market conditions.   It was doing rather better around a week ago when i was trading with far less.

It also bought a whole shitload of bags overnight, i think i should turn it off.   Maybe start again with fewer pairs.

Yes,  when it eventually sold the 3 lots it did so at a loss, which is a cause for concern.   Ive upped the amount im trading with but im not actually making any more profit.

As title - gunbot bought 3 lots of the same coin, i know sometimes it will buy an extra lot if it looks good, but should it buy a 3rd one?   Cheers

General Discussion / Re: Taxes - again!

Malicious compliance!  I admit I didn't realise that could even be a thing with regards to tax (for the most part that would suggest to me the rules aren't fit for purpose, as likely in this case)

Whole thing is currently putting me off from trading as I can't see how I would work out the tax other than you describe (which is indeed a nightmare).

Happy to pay taxes (ok, happy not really the word), but would be more sensible to send a list of gains/losses for assessment and then be told what was owed.  As opposed to trying to figure it out with little to no guidance from them only to be then later be told its wrong (or worse being done for avoidance!).   Guess I'll try and talk to an accountant, although initial contact indicates they don't really know.  (A call to HMRC wasn't exactly helpful either).

I have a question, no idea if it can be answered.  It looks like in the UK CGT is due whenever a trade is made.   From using cointracking it looks like trades within the exchange can be correctly extracted and gains losses reported  -although there is still the issue of being liable for the tax as calculated at the time of the trade, which due to the volatility of the market could mean you end up with a tax bill larger than your profits if you were unlucky - frequent withdrawals should minimise this - but for me this may call into question the taxability of these trades in the first place as it can be seen as risky and highly speculative.

My question though is when withdrawing btc into fiat (gbp in my case) i would surely need to know the price of any bitcoin obtained as profit in order to be able to determine if there is any gain to pay tax on.   I cannot see anyway this can be found from within cointracking or anywhere, it being particularly complicated as its all being continually re-traded in small amounts.

Any insights into this greatly appreciated!

Beginners & Help / Re: Cycle Failing Bot wont run

Im having same issue (im new too) - im thinking i might have got my API incorrect - so worth checking that - someone else said they'd put a space on the end so worth checking for that (maybe also check you have the correct permissions set for trading on the API in the exchange).

Also might be worth looking at your firewall as apparently that can interfere.      Hope you get it sorted soon, hopefully someone who knows more than me will be along shortly to point you in the right direction if any of my suggestions dont help.   Post back when you've sorted it :)
